Great kit for beginners When I was a kid, my friends and I loved to make friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss. We would weave different designs and give them to each other as gifts. It was so much fun.
My best friend's daughter is turning 8, and when I saw this book, I knew this would be perfect for her. She is creative and loves jewelry. This book is the perfect starter kit for making friendship bracelets. Along with step by step instructions with illustrations for making simple to complex patterns, this book also provides a handy measuring guide and all the supplies needed to make many plain and beaded friendship bracelets. A variety of colored floss and beads (including blue, red, green, pink, white, and black) means that just about every taste is covered.
I highly recommend this product as a gift for any creative or crafty girl (or boy)!

A great any day activity! This is one of my favorite klutz products. The bracelets turn out great, and you don't have to have any experience to make them. Some bracelets are a little harder than others, but practice makes perfect! It's also great for roadtrips because there is a clip included that holds the bracelet to the book. I would recommend this to anyone who wants something fun to do, and is from the age of 6-18!

Extremly Easy I got this book from a book store, and I have been weaving as I like to call it, for about two months now. I brought some thread and my skills to a family gathering, and ALL my cousins were very interested! I VERY MUCH recommend any Klutz book for begginers at anything!

Friendship Bracelet : History and traditions

The knot-craft and hand weaving used to create traditional patterns stems from Native American handcrafts, particularly from Central American tradition. According to indigenous tradition, the recipient of a friendship bracelet must wear it until the cords wear out and fall off naturally. The idea is that the friend paid for it with the hard work and love that made it, and the recipient repays the friend by honoring the work. Removing the bracelet before it naturally falls off is a sign that the friendship has gone sour. Another variation of this tradition is that the recipient of a bracelet is entitled to a wish. After the bracelet wears out and falls off naturally, the wish will come true.
